If you happen to live in the desert of in a newly constructed home, you might have come across scorpions every now and then. Since these bugs are super-resilient to pesticides, it's important to know other methods on how to prevent them from getting into your home -- especially your bed. So, are you looking for ways on how to keep scorpions out of your bed? Below are some tips on how to prevent them from potentially waking you up in the middle of the night.

How to Keep Scorpions Out of Your Bed

Attack Their Habitats

To keep scorpions out of your bed, you will have to stop playing defense and battle them head on by attacking their habitats in your home.

Scorpions typically live in your backyard where conditions are more favorable there. There is food and shelter under debris and construction materials. The first step in terminating scorpions so that you can sleep well at night is to remove clutter and trash from your yard. Remove used cement bags, metal clutter, rotting wood or dead plants from your yard. If you use mulch in your garden, you will need to brace yourself for a tough fight against these bugs. Mulching might be keeping your garden wet and green all year round, but you might also be making a prime home for scorpions in there.

Starve Them By Killing Other Bugs and Insects

Scorpions feed on other bugs and insects. You can completely remove scorpions from your bedroom by spraying a pesticide to kill fleas, cockroaches, and other insects. Preventive Pest Control mentions that if scorpions aren't able to find a meal inside of your home, they'll most likely try to find another favorable habitat.

Make It Hard for Them to Climb Onto Your Bed

If there are already scorpions inside of your bedroom, you can keep them away by moving your bed a few inches from the wall. Scorpions are mainly wall crawlers, and they use that as a route to your bed. The other path is your bed posts. You can stop that by capping your four-bed feet into smooth glass jars. Scorpions can’t climb on glass. Additionally, ensure that your bedding doesn’t hang to the floor. Scorpions can use anything that is hanging from the bed to climb up and terrorize you with stings at night. It's better to fold the bedcover or tuck it in.

Hang a Smooth Surface on the Wall Near Your Bed

This could also serve as a decorative piece, but its primary purpose would be to keep scorpions from climbing up onto your bed. Find some smooth plastic or glass board to install on the walls adjacent to your bed. The flat board needs to be larger than the length or width of your bed. The board also needs to hang directly over your bed. This way, scorpions will find it difficult to climb up and fall on your bed.

Controlling and preventing scorpions from getting inside of your home is not an easy task. You might even need to clean your entire house, tidy up your yard, and even rework your bedroom structure. All of this may take time, but it can ensure that you're keeping these pests from invading your personal space. This article went over simple tricks on how to keep scorpions out of your bed so that you can sleep peacefully at night. Good luck!
