If already part-time and licensed when branching out it's helpful to manage your time properly, prospect daily, and continue to learn and grown and you are setting yourself on the right track. IF you need to obtain a license, register now and don't procrastinate then start researching primary areas you want to serve. Once you decide on a location which is normally a radius near a realtor, you can look for an agency to work with. When leaving a job, remember the same time you put into working for someone else should be magnified and your time used wisely.

It is important to be a realtor all day every day, you should be constantly reaching out and getting to know people as well as maintaining relationships. Most people don't need a realtor constantly but you want them to call you when they do need one. You are a business and you should also protect yourself with the full coverage auto insurance, small business insurance, as well as all the proper licensing and registration. Don't short change your business by neglecting the important things you need to protect yourself and most would benefit from an accountant, tax pro, lawyer, and mentor.

Pitfalls to Avoid

Ensure that you have a mentor, someone successful in real estate to guide you, you want to be yourself but you don't want to waste energy trying to recreate the wheel. Be sure to get proper licensing and insurance once you are licensed to protect your business and yourself. Be sure not to operate this like a hobby take your business seriously and treat it as such. You have to motivate yourself and keep going, some days will be difficult but you have to keep going to achieve success.

Important Steps To Stay Focused

Set goals, and write them down. It is imperative you know what you are working towards and stay organized to knock down a list of goals. Don't allow others to discourage you, it is important to take advice from others without getting bogged down by negativity or your business will suffer.

Networking Tips

Sign up for meetups, and be sure you always have your business cards. Anytime you meet someone that is a potential connection and sale. Websites are a great way to advertise, network, and build brand awareness at once. Social media is a great networking tool; people know what you do, they see what you do, and actually see you as a person. Be sure to network a minimum of once a week but meet people every single day and all family and friends should know to come to you when they are looking to buy, rent, or sell.

Becoming a full-time real estate agent can be scary but once you take that journey it is fulfilling becoming an independent real estate agent or broker. While there isn't a set pay every week or two sky isn't even the limit in terms of how much you can make. There are many successful brokers and investors providing tips and information for free and pay and they can be useful for a new realtor or broker. Be sure that you don't get discouraged if there are breaks in between home sales there are other opportunities in the industry. For instance to make additional income some in real estate do BPO's.
