Healthier home with eco-friendly cleaning products

Have you ever thought about what you bring into your home? You know that you bring from the outside and that it makes your home dirty, so you clean your home. But do you ever stop and think what you use to remove the dirt and germs from your home?

All cleaning products that you buy from the stores, even some of the ones who claim to be ‘green’ have chemicals that are simply not safe for you and your family and even your pets. Even the mildest chemicals that are labelled as not harmful can still cause allergic reactions or other health problems to a member of your family or pets.

Where health is at stake you should not take changes. There are ways you can change this and get all of the bad chemicals out of your home. You should stop thinking that the most expensive and advertised cleaning products are the best way to clean your home.

There is another way that is safer and healthier to get the job done. There are ingredients that even now are in your kitchen pantry that you can actually use to clean your home ideally. If you are not familiar with green and eco-friendly cleaning, read on.

Eco-friendly cleaning is what more and more people are turning to these days. It is safe for the environment, your home and your family. Green cleaning means using natural ingredients to make your own safe non-toxic cleaning products. There are a few key ingredients that are the base of every natural home-made cleaning product. And they are – white vinegar, baking soda, lemons, essential oils, water (of course), washing soda, corn starch, isopropyl alcohol, and a few others.

Here are a few simple recipes that you can start with before moving on to more complex and specific cleaning solutions.

Disinfectant – mix two cups of water and add about 20 drops of tea tree essential oil into the bottle and shake well. Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial properties and will be an efficient disinfectant for surfaces in your kitchen that you use to prepare your food on. Clean your counter and be sure that your food will not have touched dangerous chemicals and that your counter is safe from foodborne bacteria.

For a bathroom disinfectant use three cups of water, two tablespoons of borax and add 4 tablespoons of white vinegar then shake well. Apply this disinfectant to your bathroom surfaces and you can be sure that all grime and bacteria will be eliminated.

A window cleaner is a simple product that is not expensive but it still contains a number of chemicals and with each spray you release them into your home. Here is a recipe suggested by Apartments Cleaning West London – you need to use one litre of water and add two teaspoons of white vinegar. Shake well in a spray bottle and spray your windows and clean them with an old crumpled newspaper or a soft cotton cloth to clean your windows without leaving streaks.

And if you think that such a simple home-made cleaning solution cannot help you with a tougher cleaning problem, try mixing baking soda and a little bit of lemon juice to form a paste. Spread it all over your greasy oven and wait for an hour at least. Then go ahead and scrub your oven. The grime and food remains will come off.

Make some time to prepare a few simple natural cleaning products. You will see how easy it is and soon you will realise that it is safer, healthier and cheaper to use such products to clean your home.
