In present day, there seems to be a ‘going back to the roots’ tendency in people, especially among young ones who increase time spent outside, away from the busy city streets. People try to be as close to nature as possible. As they do that, they tend to turn to natural products for aromatherapy, medicine and, however strange it might seem, cleaning. And that is how essential oils have become so popular. DIY enthusiasts make rose essential oil candles and lavender essential oil all-purpose cleaners, lemon body scrub, etc. But are DIY products with essential oils effective?

Home-made cleaning products basically contain some kind of alcohol or acid and essential oils. Professional like Deep Cleaning Service by FastEOT use these kind . Although it’s a common belief that essential oils are used to neutralize the smell of vinegar, the oils one adds to their detergents are actually quite the disinfectants themselves. For example, lavender essential oil which is most commonly used for all-purpose cleaner and air freshener, has a natural antibacterial effect, tea tree essential oil fights germs and bacteria as well as viruses. Moreover, if one wants a fresh home, free of bugs and insects, they could incorporate essential oils and make a natural bug repellent. What is more, one could craft a DIY soap which would remove germs as good as a factory soap, but won’t contain harmful chemicals that could cause allergic reactions. DIY cleaning products with essential oils are easy and cheap to make, leave a fresh smell of nature behind, not the smell of a hospital as do supermarket-bought detergents. As the cleansers made of essential oils are not harmful to children and people with allergies.

Whether in the bathtub listening to music or on the coach watching their favorite show, people need time to relax and relieve stress. And after all, everyone can do things other than cleaning (more pleasant ones, surely). Well, essential oils are also useful if one wishes to create a DIY spa. They just need a small glass, their favorite essential oil and some wax. And it’s not only candles; one can craft every item used in spa saloons. For example, one can make unique bath salts from lavender essential oil and baking soda, body scrub for fresh and soft skin, massage oil, etc. For the latter, however, one needs to be cautious for it could cause allergic reactions.

Every parent knows what Play-doh means, don’t they? Play-doh has become popular during the last few years. It’s said that the toy is relatively safe, but one can never knows what could happen if a young child swallows part of the molding clay. Did you know that there is a way to create DIY play-doh clay using essential oils? Well, there is, and it’s quite simple and really fun to do. Play-doh could be made in a wide variety of colors, just as the the purchasable product. However, the DIY item won’t contain any potentially harmful chemical which it a hundred times better than the purchasable one.

Essential oils could be used for making beauty items, too. Using mainly essential oils, one could make lip balms and skin care products. This comes quite in handy for people with skin problems as DIY items with essential oils contain no chemicals. What is more, if more people used DIY beauty items, the number of animals used for testing will be greatly reduced, and that’s something everyone should know.

All in all, essential oils could be used for various purposes. They have natural antibacterial and freshening effect which makes them the perfect substitute of almost every supermarket-bought item.
