How to Identify the Cause and Fix a Garage Door That Won't Close

Written by Posted On Monday, 23 October 2017 23:38

Everyone can experience garage door problems. When your door stops part of the way and then goes back up again, the cause is probably the opener safety sensors. These are small black boxes that you can locate near the bottom of your door frame.
If there is something preventing these sensors from communicating with each other, the transmitters or remotes will not function to close your garage door. If you see spider webs, dust, small toys or anything blocking the sensors, remove it and try your door again.
Misaligned sensors can also be the root of the issue. For these to work they need to be facing each other. A way to know if they are aligned is when the light on the sensor stops blinking. You may also try to reset the sensors by removing the socket of the door opener and re-plugging it back into the outlet. Your sensors may need replacement if nothing works.
