Every part of the overhead garage door plays an important role in its effective functionality. It is not uncommon for the transmitters to lose its power especially with years of daily use. Transmitters may fail due to various reasons and these are as follows:
1. Out of range. The remote will only function within a specific range so you need to make sure that you are not too far away from the door. Move closer before and try using your transmitter button to open or close your garage door.
2. Damaged antenna. If something is blocking the antenna, there is a huge tendency that the transmitters won’t function. It is also possible that some parts of the antenna are damaged. Remove the blockage or replace the broken parts.
3. Change in garage door frequency. You can check change in frequency because over time, these may fluctuate. You can adjust it by following instruction manual or ask a specialist for help.
4. Needs reprogramming. Locate the reset button of your remote, hold down that button and wait for the indicator light. Press the button again to reprogram. This should make your transmitter to function properly again.
If after thorough checking and none of these are the cause, it is possible that your transmitter is badly damaged and needs to be replaced immediately.
