What to Check for When a Garage Door Reverses After Closing Part Way

Written by Posted On Sunday, 12 November 2017 01:43

Garage doors are made with a reversing mechanism to avoid crushing objects when they close. If a garage door reverses after closing part way, there may be objects on the ground, which are blocking the garage door’s path like toys, cans and others.
Another reason is a debris build-up on the tracks such as gums, mud and small rocks. The debris may cause the door from moving forward.
Check the area around your door to determine if there is something obstructing the photo eye sensors. Look for any build-up inside the track as well. Regularly wiping the tracks with a damp cloth can prevent debris build-up on the tracks.
Also check if the photo eyes are aligned. If one of the sensors isn’t lit, it will assume that there is something on its path and the door won’t close.
