What to Do When the Dryer Won't Turn On

Written by Posted On Thursday, 30 November 2017 00:25

Repairing a dryer that won’t start can be daunting at first. However, if you know what to look for, it can be easy. Here is a list of the possible causes why a dryer won’t turn on.
• Faulty door switch. When the door switch is closed, it allows the dryer to start tumbling. It can be found behind the front panel. You can test it for continuity with a multi-tester and it should read “0” ohms between the terminals “C” and “NO”.
• Defective thermal fuse. This is a safety device that prevents the dryer from overheating. If the temperature of the unit becomes too hot, the power will be interrupted causing the dryer not to operate. You can also test the fuse for continuity with a multi-meter but remember to disconnect it from any power source before testing.
You can call your nearest appliance service company if you are not sure how to repair it.
