Whoever wishes to paint his house himself wishes to give his best to get the best result out of it. Now for beginners it is next to impossible to get a good output but people have been practicing or learning about the dos and don’ts can also get your painting skills better. Here are a few tips you can use to excel the art of painting because everything is better when you DIY.

Lap marks:

One of the many issues that can occur is the lap marks. They happen if you paint over a dry area and due to the unevenness they make the wall look bad. To avoid these the rollers you use must have a lot of paint each time you are using and the edges of each roll on the wall should be wet. An easy way of getting this done is rolling up and down while moving to right or left (depending on where you started from) each time.

Consistent color:

It has been observed that sometimes the color of the room is not completely the same. This happens since people use different buckets for different walls and the color can slightly vary. To avoid this mix all the paint in a bigger bucket so that the variation is balanced and the color of the entire room is same.

Perfect edge:

The beauty in the paint is observed by how perfectly the edges are done. To obtain them put a tape at the junction of the trim and the wall. Once you paint the entire wall and it has completely dried cut off the tape and remove it at a 45-degree angle.

Trim first always:

The edge will be clean only after the trim is clean. To paint a clean trim always do the trim first so that the paint that goes off line can be removed when the wall is being painted. Painting the trim later can cause the wall paint to go wrong.

Prime:

People often skip this step and then regret as they have to use more paint and time to cover the blotchy areas. Priming makes you save the much higher cost of the paint and cleaning of the walls after the priming has been done is also very important so that paint can be applied easily.

Dirty surfaces:

The surfaces must be cleaned before you apply paint. This will get the finishing even better. If you let these surfaces dirty the overall look won’t be as good as you want.

Smaller roller:

The area near trim is usually painted with brush resulting in uneven finish. To make this better use a smaller roller and complete the task using it to make a better looking finish. A good size is 3 inches and it is usually found at any normal store. House Painting Contractors are easy to find but to get a reliable one you need to do some homework. If these tips sound sane to you, you are good to start working or else hire a contractor.
