10 Landscaping Ideas That Look Great and are Cheap to do!

Having a great looking front and backyard is really important in terms of keeping the value of your home as high as possible, and curb appeal is something that can also apply to the backyard as well. When a potential buyer is looking through a listing they are going to have a big first impression by of course the front, but that also goes for the backyard as well.

Beautiful backyards don’t have to be as extravagant as a lot of people think they need to be, and the truth of the matter is that you can create a really incredible backyard experience and aesthetic look for a relatively small investment. All it really takes is a little creativity and some gumption and you’ll have a really professionally looking landscaped outdoor area that not only looks great but is also really economical and fun to experience.

Add a border to your flower bed

This is definitely one of the cheapest and relatively easiest idea out there when it comes to landscaping, but it does help bring a little bit more aesthetics and overall organization to your lawn, and that always looks a lot better then weeds and scattered mulch. By adding a stone edging to your flower beds you’ll see the great barrier effect it takes on your yard.

Hiding the AC unit

Of course we all want our AC, but it definitely is an eyesore no matter where it is at your house. By building a simple barrier around your unit you’ll not only have a good way of hiding the eye sore, but you can then make this barrier as creative as you like and build character to your home.

Build a DIY water feature

Of course having a water feature seems pretty expensive or extravagant, and that’s because getting one professionally built usually is really expensive, but when you DIY a water feature it actually doesn’t cost anywhere near as much as most people would think. It will always be such an incredible feature to any backyard, and making a DIY waterfall is actually a lot easier than you’d think it is!

Garden hose home

It never looks good to just keep your hoses lying around in your yard, and so you should always have some kind of storage for your hoses so you don’t have to worry about all of the eye sores they can create.

Make paths for walking areas

Don’t make people walk on the grass or dirt when it’s to and from an area that people are going to want to walk through a lot, that’s just not classy. When you build a walking path, no matter how simple, you are definitely showing that you acknowledge where people should walk, and therefore are acknowledging that you where you don't want people walking too.

Connect points with a path

Some areas have small division points where it’s just dirt or mulch, or even plants, in between certain walking areas. You can do this by adding a wooden walkway or any kind of pathway marking the connection in your yard, and then people will not step where they shouldn't.

Add lights!

Lighting up your plants and other landscaping areas in your yards is always a really good touch when it comes to the aesthetics of your home, and it can also add a ton of value to your home too. You’re going to want to enjoy your yards in the evening times, and when there is a little bit of added lighting surrounding the yard you’ll feel a lot homier, and that goes always goes a long way.

Evergreens

Evergreen shrubs and plants are always a really great option because no matter what time of year it is you’ll get that perfect green look surrounding your yard. If you like greenery then evergreen is always a really great option!

Island life

Building islands in your front yard are always really cool looking, and a lot of gardening experts will say that it really adds to curb appeal when you have a bunch of plants of varied heights within your islands. Try mixing up the colors and such and really seeing how vibrant you can make these plant islands!

Rock it out!

Stones and rocks are always really great borders and can even act as potting areas, so consider using some stones and aesthetic looking rocks to build up your home’s look and complimenting the colors of your plants in a unique way! It’s also probably best to make sure that when you do utilize rocks that you are purchasing or collecting rocks that are all pretty much the same size.
