Can Carpet Padding Be Dried? This is the question that lingers in the minds of many proud carpet owners. While a carpet enhances the aesthetic value of any house, one just cannot

deny the fact that carpets are not the easiest thing to maintain. Carpets lose most of their aesthetics value over the years as dirt and grime gather on the surface of the carpets. Not that washing them

is any easier. Besides being extremely heavy, carpet padding is very hard to dry. That being said, the task is not impossible.

Many times, due to flood or other accidents, the carpet gets soaked with water causing the padding inside the carpet to become wet and soggy. This

is a serious hazard especially if the carpet is wet for more than a day. In such cases, the carpet padding becomes the breeding ground for mold and bacteria leading to health problems.

Why Should You Make Sure its Dried?

Experts wants you to know the utmost importance to make sure that your carpet is dry within a maximum of 24 hours of getting wet. This removed the chance of the carpet being infested with

mold or other harmful microorganisms. The spores of the mold can become airborne and cause serious allergies in individuals who are already vulnerable to allergies or have other breathing conditions like asthma.

You Can Dry Your Carpet Following the Simple Steps Mentioned Below:

The first step that you need to do is remove any trace of moisture from the room. This helps to draw the water out of the carpet. You can do this by turning on the air conditioner in your room. Put

your vacuum cleaner to good use. Use the wet of dry setting in your vacuum cleaner to suction out as much water as you possibly can from the carpet padding. To force some extra water out of the padding,

you can give it a good squeeze and walk over it with forceful strides to push the water out. Keep suctioning as you see the water bubbling out.

(Note: It is very important to keep all electrical cables, plugs, and appliances out of this wet area to prevent any electrical mishaps)

To remove the musky, wet odor from the carpet, you can sprinkle a pinch of baking soda which works as magic to pull out the water as well as removes any bad odor. Switch

on the fan and let the water dry out with some added ventilation. The last step would be to sanitize the carpet to make sure there are no unwanted guests living in the carpet padding. Spray

disinfectants to remove any mold or bacteria. You might also consider replacing the carpet to be on the safe side.

The Padding

The carpet padding is exactly like a sponge that will soak up any amount of water. Can carpet padding be dried? Although it's not an easy task, it is definitely not impossible. However, the process

is slow and you need to use gloves and other protection to make sure you are safe. You can also avail the help of a professional who can ensure that your carpet is properly dried and cleaned of any mold or bacteria.
