Soaking Method

First, you should use a brush with stiff bristles to remove dried spots and stains or blot it up to remove excessive spills from the carpet so that the stain may not spread while removing it. Now you have to flush out the face powder from the carpets by loosening the main material or its residual portions by applying a good quality stain remover like a solvent used for dry cleaning fabrics. While applying the stain remover you should use a dry spotter on the stain and cover it with a damp absorbent pad and let it stay there for few minutes. Now press the pad hard on the stain before removing it. You will have to continue this process unless the entire stain is removed. Now flush the carpet with a quality dry-cleaning solvent and dry it thoroughly. This soaking method works great with other carpets spills, spills such as coffee or other liquids.

Alternative Method

You can also apply few drops of ammonia with a wet spotter and flush it with water if the spot remains even after using dry-cleaning solvent. The spot should be covered with a damp absorbent pad for few minutes before removing it. You can repeat the process several times to remove the face powder makeup completely from your carpet made of wool, synthetic, silk and rayon fabric.

Tamping Method

However, if your carpet is made of cotton, acrylic, linen, nylon, spandex or polyester fabric then their cleaning method can be a bit different. Though initially you will have to follow the instructions given above to remove excessive spills from the carpet but if the stains remain even after using dry cleaning solvent then you will have to use tamping method. In tamping method you will have to make light strokes of the brush on the stained spots to bring down the brush in to the fabric, before changing the damp absorbent pad from it. Thus by using soaking and tamping methods alternately you can easily remove the stains of face powder makeup. You can complete this process by flushing the carpet with a dry-cleaning solvent and dry it completely.

Washing Method

The spilled face powder makeup can be cleaned from the carpets made of suede or leather by removing the excessive materials gently. You can use a lathery mixture of lukewarm water and soap to apply it with a sponge on the carpet. Then wipe dry your carpet with a clean cloth. You can also use cornmeal as an effective adsorbent if the carpet still has oily or greasy stains. You should give it enough time to absorb the oily and greasy substance from your carpet. The carpet should be dried completely before using it again.
