Written by Posted On Wednesday, 03 July 2019 04:43

Everyone will need a plumber eventually. It’s as inevitable as death and taxes, though marginally less traumatic than either. When the time does come that you need to find a plumber, it’s important that you find a good one. If you ever need plumbing services in Los Angeles , then there are a lot of plumbers to choose from, but you need to find the right one. So how do you do that? Keep reading to find out.

Why You Need To Hire a Reliable Plumber

A good plumber does not just perform the repairs needed, they do so with thoroughness and a sense of professionalism. That means they respect you, your property, and your time. A good plumber shows up when they say they will and completes the job they are assigned to do. If any complications arise, then they will let you know as soon as possible so that you can make any adjustments that are needed.

They will not let you know at the last minute with a surprise addition to your bill, they will give you time to adjust. So, now that you know why you need a reliable plumber, it is time to find out how to choose one.

Make Sure That They Are Licensed

Forty-four of the fifty states require that a plumber have a license before they are allowed to practice their trade. That license is issued by the state or local government and license requirements differ from state to state. Most states have three different levels of plumbing experience, which are:

  • Apprentice Plumber - They train alongside more experienced plumbers

  • Journey, or Journeyman, Plumber - They can perform a lot of plumbing work, but they don’t usually own and operate their own business

  • Master Plumber - They have years of experience working as a journeyman and are qualified to run their own business

Some states have license requirements for each level of experience, but some do not. In general, each level of experience corresponds with the years of experience of the plumber. A license is a good indication that the plumber knows what they are doing.

Find Out If They Are Insured and Bonded

A good plumber should have both workman's’ compensation and at least $500,000 of liability insurance. It is needed to protect both you and the plumber in case they or one of their workers suffers an injury in your home.

Get Referrals And Read Reviews

You can read reviews of different plumbers on sites like Angie's List to get a good idea of what previous customers think of their work. You can also ask any potential plumbers about their previous clients, and then contact those clients to ask them about their experiences with said plumber. Customer complaints are a red flag and you can find out if a plumber has received any by visiting the website of your state’s government or by checking the Better Business Bureau.

A personal referral is often the best indicator of a plumber’s quality since no one will recommend a plumber with whom they are unsatisfied. You can speak to anyone you know who has recently hired a plumber. Real estate agents and contractors who specialize in remodeling are also good referrers since they work with plumbers all the time.

Find The Right Plumber For You

If you follow all of these steps, then you will find a plumber that is reliable, professional, and guaranteed to do a good job. And if the plumber has completed their job and you are satisfied, then let people know. You can do that by referring them to others or by writing a review on a referral site. Once you find a reliable plumber, you should spread the word and let everyone know.
