A Guide on Your Home Appliances

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 08 October 2019 12:11

You’ve just moved into your new apartment. Or perhaps you’ve put the down payment on that maisonette. Either way, you’re excited about your new chapter in life. Now that you’re settled in, you start thinking about how you’ll make your house feel more like home. And nothing says home like a few new appliances.

No Home is Complete Without a Dishwasher

Since the advent of the first dishwasher in 1850, the simple appliances have come a long way. It’s now estimated that 70 percent of homes have a dishwasher. That goes to show how valued dishwashers are.

Finding the best dishwasher for your home’s needs matters a lot. Be on the lookout for something with a sufficient place-setting capacity to provide enough room for your utensils. Some dishwashers even have unique wash cycles. The options are numerous, so you’ll find a dishwasher that will suit your needs.

Washing Machine

When the clothes pile up, you need a dependable washing machine. And with the advancements in tech over the past decade or so, washing machines have become affordable. The convenience and efficiency they offer are unmatched. Think about it: nobody wants to keep making trips to the Laundromat.

And even with a strict budget, you can get a quality washing machine so you won't have to feel like you're breaking the bank.

A Water Heater

Even if you live in warmer climates, you'll appreciate the value of a water heater. The fact of the matter is that many prefer a soothing warm shower. After a long day at work or school, you flick a switch and little jets of warmth cover you. And let's not even talk about how indispensable a water heater is during those colder months.

With a wide variety of cost-effective heaters available, there's no reason your home should miss one. You could even consider a multiple-room heater, that supports heating several rooms. That way you don't have to worry about installing several heaters plus you'll save on plumbing costs.

Safety First

There’s that ruby ring that’s been in the family for the last few generations. Or maybe the deed to your great grandpa’s farm that you don’t trust anyone to keep. If there’s anything you hold dear, then a safe offers the best form of protection.

Sure, home safes might not be as bulletproof as, say, bank vaults, but they will keep your valuables safe particularly if there's a break-in. And in case of something like a fire, you rest assured that what ever's in the safe is protected.

Keeping It Cool

You've taken the time to go to the farmer's market, and you've got some excellent bargains for some farm-fresh produce. It would be a shame to let all that freshness go to waste. That’s where a fridge proves its worth.

When it comes to fridges, there are so many options out there that it can get confusing. But when buying a refrigerator for your home, consider a model that suits your lifestyle and your home. There are top freezer types, bottom freezer models, and even side-by-side fridges. There's also the added consideration of how your fridge fits into your kitchen's décor.

Think of a Humidifier

It's late, probably 2 AM. You keep tossing and turning in bed, but you can't seem to catch a wink of sleep. Or perhaps you get the seasonal sniffles because of something in the air. A humidifier could be just what you need.

Humidifiers can significantly improve the quality of your sleep and help manage those annoying allergies. They're so effective that even doctors recommend them. Given their pocket-friendly prices, adding a humidifier shouldn’t be too taxing on your budget.

Suck It Up

Gone are the days of back-breaking sweeping or dusting down tables and chairs with wet clothes. Since the onset of vacuum cleaners, carpets and floors have never been the same. With their powerful suction capacity, vacuum cleaners suck up every last piece of hair. Even the tiniest speck of dust won't be spared.

In truth, though, vacuum cleaners should be a staple for every household. They're faster and more efficient than your conventional broom. From canister vacuums to handheld vacuums, the choice is yours. Also, consider what type of surface you'll be vacuuming to get the right one for the job at hand.

Keep Things Cool

It's that time of year again. Temperatures start soaring and there are times when you feel like you're stuck in a sauna. Instead of enduring the almost endless waves of heat, why not install an A/C?

These fantastic appliances suck in the warm air and give off a cooling breeze that'll make you forget all about the ambient heat. Imagine the relief of flicking a switch and enjoying the incredible effect of fresh air. Well, you don't have to, do you? An air conditioner is “cool” personified.

Think Sharp

Ever tried chopping an onion with a blunt knife? Chances are you've come across a dull knife or two in your time. The sheer frustration of trying to make some onion rings with an uncooperative knife could drive anyone up a wall. Even cutting into your favorite loaf without the right knife could prove nearly impossible.

That’s why having good quality knives is essential. Not only do they cut well but they last long. Some knives are so good that they end up becoming heirlooms. And while you're at it, get a decent chopping board for the sake of protecting your countertops (and fingers).

The Right Glasses for The Right Occasion

Champagne in a beer bottle. That doesn't sound quite right. Even the thought of it is almost, well, unimaginable.

Having the right type of glasses for the right occasion brings a sense of completion to your home. Have a unique cabinet to stash them away in and bring them out when the time calls for it.

There’s so much to a home than the physical structure itself. After all, a home is all about the little things that come together to bring a greater sense of completeness. The sum effect of these appliances, small as they are, really make a home what it is.
