Best places to live in Canada

Posted On Wednesday, 01 December 2021 20:32

There is no denying that Canada is a beautiful country and a wonderful place to live, proven by its popularity amongst those migrating from other countries. But with such a large and vast country it can be hard to find exactly where to settle down.

Toronto, Ontario

Best For: Job Opportunities

There are plenty of jobs available in the city of Toronto and lots of people mistakenly think it is the capital of Canada (Ottawa is the actual capital) because of its size and busy skyline. Despite not being the official capital, it is Canada’s financial and cosmopolitan hub. So, there is no shortage of business and employment opportunities for you to take advantage of. But if you are not a fan of living in such a big city then there are plenty of things to do in Mississauga and other neighbouring cities with an easy commute into Toronto for work.

Montreal, Quebec

Best For: Food and Drink

Montreal does look beautiful, but the true spirit of the city lies in its cuisine. Think of those Canadian classics like maple syrup, smoked meats, and poutine – they are all done best in Montreal. They even claim to make better bagels than New York! This all makes Montreal a perfect place for all those hardcore foodies.

Canada has some iconic foods. But this isn’t just the opinion of the locals – legendary British chef Jamie Oliver chose this city for his first North American restaurant outing and developed many recipes inspired by his time there.

Boucherville, Quebec

Best For: Rural Escapes

Instead of heading out to one of the major cities, you may want to opt for a more rural lifestyle and there is plenty of choice in Canada. Getting up close and personal with mother nature and everything she has to offer is easily done in places like Boucherville and it’s easy to see why. In Boucherville, you have a variety of jaw-dropping national parks to choose from and it’s also close to the US border as well as being just a small bridge across from bustling Montreal, making it a great choice for adventure seekers and explorers alike.

Edmonton, Alberta

Best For: Families

Edmonton is perfect for anyone looking to start a family, or those who already have a family in tow. The public school are excellent in this area and there is a giant mall that is popular amongst children of all ages because it offers mini-golf, escape rooms, an aquarium, bowling, an ice rink, an amusement park and even a waterpark! Making it perfect for young couples, individuals, and families with children.

Quebec City, Quebec

Best For: Culture

The historic district of Quebec City is great for culture vultures who will appreciate the World Heritage sites and the quaint old markets that create the feeling of walking through an old French village. As well as the historical sites, there is always a festival or a celebration of some kind going on in Quebec City such as the Summer Festival, the Winter Carnival, and the New France Festival.
