Luxury travelers have many choices when it comes to picking accommodations while sojourning. However, choosing a place that meets the entire traveling party’s needs often proves stressful and time-consuming. Fortunately, if San Bernardino County California, and the Mojave Desert are in your sights, consider lodging at the Kellogg Doolittle House, situated in the town of Joshua Tree.

Challenges Faced by Luxury Travelers

Luxury travelers have the good fortune of being able to afford a journey to any place of their choosing. However, finding a destination that checks off all of your requirements could present issues. Factors requiring attention may include the architecture of the location in question, the surrounding sights, the location, and the availability of luxury amenities.

Luckily, these desires and more are met at the Kellogg Doolittle House. The luxury home now provides Airbnb stays to those interested in renting the unique structure. The nearly 6,000-square-foot property, which is sometimes referred to as the High Desert Home, sits embedded on surrounding hillsides. Moreover, the structure contains no walls. Rather, it is supported by 26 concrete columns.

You would be hard-pressed to find a more breathtaking location, which rests on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park. Hikers and explorers can access the park from a specialized path available to those staying at the home. If walking is not your speed, the house comes equipped with a golf cart. Furthermore, you can use the hot tub to relax at the end of the day.

The property is not completely isolated. If you must work on your trip, the home contains several offices with workstations. In addition, Joshua Tree is only a one-hour drive from the major city of Palm Springs.

The Kellogg Doolittle Home’s History

The structure was designed in the 1980s by noted architect Kendrick Bangs Kellogg. Kellogg, a student of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, is considered a forefather of the Organic Architecture movement. He created the distinctive property for artist couple Beverly and Jay Doolittle.

The Doolittles provided Kellogg with the concept they wanted in a home and gave him the resources and as much time as he needed to create their masterpiece. Kellogg and his assistant John Vugrin worked meticulously on every minute detail and took more than 20 years to complete the house.

“This is organic architecture in its sublime and also at its most dramatic,” said a representative of the magazine Architectural Digest.

The Unique Services the Kellogg Doolittle House Offers

The location provides a perfect backdrop that television and movie crews have employed to shoot scenes from small and big screen productions. Moreover, you may wish to celebrate any number of special or milestone occasions in this visually inspiring setting.
