At its core, a house is a refuge from the world and a secure dwelling for a family. Yet few families reside in isolation, nor should they. Their homes, therefore, should also be welcoming and comfortable gathering places for friends and relatives. Whether spacious or cozy, brightly lit or candlelit, each room should have an exciting and agreeable atmosphere.

This is especially true of the nerve center of any house – the kitchen. The good news is that the newest kitchen designs are both striking and affordable. From walls to countertops to even the kitchen sink, the latest conceptions promise to revitalize the atmosphere and make the kitchen more user-friendly.

In recent years, tile manufacturers have sought out the services of creative designers in order to provoke a state-of-the-art ambience. Popular now are the presence of geometric shapes on wall tiles. These are either randomly located or appear in a consistently recurring pattern. Hexagons lend themselves well to such motifs and complement the straight lines of counters and appliances.

A benefit of geometric shapes is that they do not require intense colours to make a bold statement like, say, glass mosaic backsplash, for example. Whatever the tile design, arraying the blocks wall to wall is a favored and growing practice of late.

Colour schema, however, are central when it comes to cabinetry. Contrasting hues for cabinets—over the benchtop and under—are becoming a widespread kitchen phenomenon. Colour blocking, as it is known, is a hallmark of 2017 home design and its most in-demand color combos are navy/grey, black/white and grey/timber.

Because brass is a trendy choice in fixtures, navy in particular enjoys abundant popularity for cabinets. Another feature going mainstream are taller wall cabinets that extend to the ceiling. The benefits here are obvious: more room for storage and less room for the accumulation of dust. It is a win-win selection.

Surfaces are less given to stylish modes than are other kitchen components. Factors in benchtop selection center on budget, usage and maintenance. Laminate, for example, is preferred when funds are limited but, once scratched or dented, loses forever its stunning finish. Granite, by contrast, hides scratches and abrasions well yet it can be costly and requires regular sealing and re-sealing to prevent stains. A happy medium can be found in porcelain, where  scratch marks are nearly invisible and stains are easily removed. It also suffers heat with little effect. If there is an uptick among benchtop surfaces in 2017, porcelain is the beneficiary.

As components to kitchen designs change according to the tastes of the times, the sink will likewise evolve to accommodate its surroundings. By good fortune and current technology, homeowners can now shop for kitchen sinks online. Troughs, mixers and other accessories can be replaced in total or swapped out a piece at a time. This flexibility allows for modest changes without an expensive remodeling. Best of all, customers can shop from the comfort of their homes. Ordering kitchen sinks online helps homeowners redesign their living space while saving time and money.
