How to Reattach Your Garage Door Switch

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 31 October 2017 01:28

Every garage door opener has a disconnect switch in case of power outage. It detaches the motor from the door’s opening system. The switch is usually attached to a rope that you can pull to operate your door manually.
If you can hear the motor running but the door does not move, there is a possibility that the disconnect switch was enabled. The switch might be triggered by either getting bumped or unhooked from the motor. In order to operate your garage door automatically again, you need to lift the door all the way up. If doing this yourself, be careful, for garage doors are heavy and can cause serious injury. Once the door is fully open, reattach the hook, then try to open and close your garage door using the transmitter.
If you have already reconnected the door switch but your door still does not open or close automatically, you can get professional help from a garage door service technician.
