What to Do When Something Is Blocking Your Garage Door Track

Written by Posted On Monday, 06 November 2017 00:24

Every garage door has a reversing mechanism that keeps it from crushing obstacles in the track. If your door closes halfway then goes up again, this could be caused by the objects on the ground blocking the path, like toys or garbage cans. Another reason why your door could reverse is a buildup of dirt or debris on the track which keeps the rollers from moving forward. If your door hits even a tiny object, it will move back up in order to avoid crushing what’s underneath.
Make sure there isn’t anything blocking the sensors of the photo eye. Then, take a look at your garage door tracks to check for any buildup. It can also help if you run a damp cloth along each track to get rid of anything that might be getting in the way.
If you have already made sure that there is no obstruction in the tracks but the door is still not working properly, you can entrust the job to a skilled garage door service technician.
