What to Do When the Garage Door Was Manually Locked

Written by Posted On Monday, 06 November 2017 00:38

If your door fails to open but the opener motor starts then stops after a few seconds, there is a possibility that your door has been locked manually. You can check the springs and tracks first and if they appear to be in good shape, check if the lock on your door is engaged.
Some garage doors have manual locks to give your home extra security. The locks usually look like a knob or huge handle in the middle of the door with two horizontal bars running from each side. You will find a small button on either the top or side of the knob. You can press it to slide the bars across the door if you wish to lock it. To unlock your door manually, turn the handle to move the bars away from the edges.
Manually unlocking your garage door is easy. If you have done it successfully but your door still doesn’t open, you can count on a garage door service technician to figure out what’s wrong.
