How to Level an Uneven Garage Door

Written by Posted On Monday, 06 November 2017 00:43

A frayed cable is usually the most common cause of uneven garage doors. As they fray, they grow in length. If the cable is not seated correctly on the cable drum on one side, the door rises on the other side. The cable would need replacement if it is not properly fitted on the drum.
Be reminded that the procedure is quite dangerous. If you believe you do not have the ability to safely make the adjustments, it is better to hire a garage door repair expert. Keep your clothing and hands away from the torsion springs, shaft and drums.
Before doing the repair, turn off the power first. You must first tighten then screw on the cable drum on the side that is lower. Proceed to the other side and do the opposite. Carefully loosen the cable drum screw until the garage door is even. If you see that the door is already even, tighten the screw again. Do not over or under tighten the screws.
