Reasons Why Your Microwave Won’t Heat

Written by Posted On Monday, 06 November 2017 00:51

Using a microwave is a convenient way to heat food. You just heat your food up for a few minutes and you are ready to go. However, having problems with your microwave is unavoidable. If your microwave won’t heat, look out for these parts.
• Diode. This powers the magnetron to heat the food. A burned-out diode wouldn’t be able to give enough voltage to the magnetron to operate properly, which prevents the microwave to heat. If the diode needs replacement, have an appliance service technician do it.
• Door switch. If one or more of the door switches fail or is broken, the microwave will not start. Have a licensed technician replace it if needed.
• Magnetron. It uses high voltage to generate the frequency that heats up the food. If it is burned-out, the microwave won’t heat. It is also not repairable so have a professional replace it.
