What is Causing My Garage Door to Not Close All The Way?

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 28 November 2017 01:28

When your overhead garage door only closes halfway, and then proceeds to reverse or stay open, the culprit here is most likely a worn garage door extension spring. It is either relaxed at some parts, broken, or simply rusty and dysfunctional.
Torsion springs do all the lifting, and any damage on any one of them can consequently add excess pressure on other parts. The cables are the ones especially affected first because they are in direct proximity and connection to the springs. Tracks and pulleys come after. Before your spring damages other parts, it is best to get it replaced with a new one.
Do not overlook this issue, as it may worsen. Your door might completely stop from opening or closing. Thus, make sure to call a garage door service company to have your door checked as soon as possible.
