Safety Tips for Garage Door Openers

Written by Posted On Thursday, 30 November 2017 01:06

Because garage door openers are relatively easy to install compared to other parts of the door, it can be tempting to skip calling a professional garage door service technician to do the job for you. It is also easy to overlook the safety measures for openers.
Here are some safety tips that you should always keep in mind:
• Remember that installing an opener by yourself, especially if you are not an expert on residential garage doors, increases the chances of garage accidents.
• Always check if the opener is totally opening and closing your door.
• Constantly check the condition of your reinforcement bracket, which is located at the top section of your garage door. Worn out or absent brackets can cause damage to your door.
• Test the auto-reverse function. You want your opener to have this safety function installed.
• Remember the six-inch rule. The photo eyes should not be installed not higher than six inches above the garage floor.
