Maintain Garage Door Safety with these Tests

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 05 December 2017 23:56

If handled incorrectly, overhead garage doors can cause mishaps that result to serious injuries. This is why it is essential to regularly conduct the reversal test and the force setting test.
• The reversal test involves testing if your door has an auto-reverse function. Doors that are manufactured after 1993 should have this function installed. This is a safety measure that lets the door reverse if it touches a surface other than the floor.
• The force testing involves testing if the photo eyes are functioning properly. Waving your hand across line of sight of the eyes should trigger the door to automatically reverse. If the door does not respond, consider getting the eyes cleaned, reprogrammed, or replaced.
It is always best to have additional safety devices installed. Consult a garage door service company for this. If you have children or pets, you should also follow a certain set of safety guidelines in addition to conducting the two tests.
