Things to Consider When Garage Door Gets Out of Balance

Written by Posted On Wednesday, 06 December 2017 00:35

Having an unbalanced garage door causes the door to rapidly close down, creating potential danger to your family and further strain to your door if left untreated. To prevent this from happening and keep it running safely and smoothly, we have provided steps on how to properly adjust it.
It is necessary that you prepare all the tools needed in this task. The tools you need are a6-foot stepladder and a carpenter’s level.
First thing to do is to check the door exactly where it stays suspended. Once you found it, place a ladder under the garage door to prevent it from closing unexpectedly while you’re doing the task. Put the spring inside the track hanger. Ensure it is free of tension before removing it from its track hanger.
In case the door was falling rapidly, place the spring to the next higher hole. On the other hand, you should put it on the next lower hole if it was opening right away. Make sure that the door hits the ground evenly on both sides. Adjust the spring tension on each side until you get the desired balance.
