Does My Garage Door Need to Be Locked?

Written by Posted On Thursday, 21 December 2017 00:40

We are all concerned about our security. The safety of our garage door is as important as the safety of our front and back door. The type of garage door opener installed determines whether or not you need a lock for your garage door. If you have an electric opener, you do not need a lock because manually opening the door is nearly impossible. With older openers, the garage door can be lifted from the outside. Locks need to be installed in this kind of situation.

There is a new feature for modern automatic openers called rolling-code technology. This is a sophisticated system wherein the opener transmits a new security code every time it is pressed. The chance of someone hijacking your code is almost impossible.

If you have an electric opener and you decide to still put locks, your door will be greatly damaged if someone tries to open it with an opener while it is locked.
