Fleas are such a nuisance that you would never love to see in your house. However, they are still easy to be found elsewhere in blankets, carpets, or furniture, especially on your pets. Fleas do not only disturb you by biting, leaving itchy or even infectious spots, but also transmit some kind of serious diseases if their host is infected. These bloodsucking insects cannot fly, but their legs enable them to jump and spread over quickly. Their life cycle includes eggs and larvae, therefore, removing them altogether sound uneasy. Nevertheless, it is not impossible mission to get rid of fleas in house if you seriously follow these tips below.

1. Thoroughly clean your house

Cleaning house

The number one priority you should think of when trying to eradicate fleas out of your house is making sure that your house is clean and tidy. Fleas spring up and spread in shady, warm and moist environment. Therefore, if your house is cluttered with furniture and unorganized stuff, it is conditional for flea infestation.

Vacuum the floor, sofa, carpets or rugs on a regular basis. Remember to discard the vacuum bag that contains the dust, debris and maybe fleas and their siblings. A clean house will prevent a great number of fleas from growing and wide spreading in your living environment.

2. Treat fleas on your pets

Indoor petsIf you have dogs or cats, check them out for any sign of fleas. Usually dogs or cats are favorite hosts of fleas for the perfect hiding place among soft warm fur. There are several measures you may select to remove fleas from your pets, one of them is using a flea comb. Run the comb from head to tail, legs and all over pets’ body to catch fleas taking refuge in the fur.

Fleas can easily jump back to the host body once exposed by the comb. However, you can stop them from doing that by having a dish of soapy water to dip the comb in. A mixture of soap and water will kill fleas right away once they contact with the liquid.
Another way to treat pets with fleas is bathing them using flea shampoo. This method is easier to apply for dogs rather than cats because cats tend to be impatient with bathing. If you have difficulty in dealing with cat bathing, look for help from a vet. You should clean up pet bedding as well for the fact that fleas are most likely to be right there and again attack your pets.

3. Use flea fogger

Flea fogger (or flea bomb) is among the most common remedy that home owners may resort to when controlling fleas in the house. A flea fogger is an aerosol canister containing chemicals that are unpleasant at all to fleas. In other words, it contains insecticide.

It is critical to follow the instruction while using this flea fogger. The reason is the toxic chemical released from a flea fogger will help to kill fleas, but it is not good to human and pets. Therefore, you had better leave your house for a while after using flea fogger. Open the windows and doors to let fresh air fill the room after about 8 hours so as for the toxic smell to be blown away.

Using flea foggers cannot guarantee 100% fleas removal for the fact that it may not be able to reach hidden corners under couches, rugs, or carpets. However, around 80% of fleas get killed and the rest of eggs or larvae will die away for the next 1 or 2 repeat treatments.
