Installation of windows and how to properly install a window

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 29 May 2018 07:25

Basic information about installing windows

It is very important, having chosen a suitable window, correctly and qualitatively to establish it. After all, incorrect installation of the window necessarily entails such problems as violation of the tightness of the window structure, disruption of the window hardware, violation of the microclimate of the room, cracked glass. If the window is not correctly mounted, the window's service life is reduced. It is important to think carefully about where and how to find good installers to perform such a responsible job.

The best option is to ask for installation assistance from the manufacturer of your window and hire window contractors. Often it is the manufacturer who turns to you with a proposal to provide such a service. This is done to provide a comprehensive guarantee for the windows and ensure their proper functioning. To rely on the qualification of outside specialists is a big risk for the image of the company and its product.

Possessing extensive experience in the field of production, the manufacturer knows its goods better and therefore will render the installation service better. It is also very important if you ordered a complex, i.e. installation of a window, installation of ebb, slopes, windowsill, so that these works were conducted by a single firm. This is necessary to avoid troubles and shortcomings, which can be caused by various methods and technologies of installation.

How to know if windows are not installed correctly and how to evaluate the quality of the installation of the window?

Unfortunately, visually, "hot on the go" to do this is not always possible. The exception is obvious shortcomings and cases, for example, if the installation has cracked a double-glazed window or builders "forgot" to install some of the hardware. Nevertheless, there are several signs on which it is possible to determine a poor-quality installation of the window:

  • 1. The window "sticks", for its opening and closing a considerable effort is required;
  • 2. The windows are closed loosely (blowing through the seal);
  • 3. The window sashes "sag" (when opening the flap noticeably its movement downwards, and when closing the flap touches the frame);
  • 4. Between the window frame and the wall there are cracks and gaps;
  • 5. The window is not rigidly fixed in the opening (when the sash is opened, the movement of the frame profile is felt);
  • 6. Between the elements of decoration and the window are large slits.

In case of signs of poor-quality installation, it is necessary to draw up an official complaint to the manufacturer of the works with detailed indication of all defects and not to sign the acceptance certificate until their elimination, or to reflect all claims in the acceptance certificate. In case of claims to the quality of installation, a conscientious performer is obliged to send a specialist to check the quality of the installation and draw up a conclusion about its quality.

Quality installation of the window - high-quality materials

Long operation of the window depends on the quality of the materials used when installing it. It is important that both the window and materials themselves used for its installation were of high quality. For example, the use of cheaper assembly foam can lead to premature failure of the assembly seam and have rather serious negative consequences. Substandard materials of additional components also affect the overall quality of the installed structure. If the installation of a plastic window has been installed with docking elements of poor quality, then such elements, as a rule, noticeably turn yellow and stand out against the general background of the window.
