Create a Spotless Bathroom to Sell a Home Faster

When you are planning to sell your home on the real estate market, you or the real estate agent will show it to clients during one-on-one visits, or you might have an open house to show it to numerous potential homebuyers at one time. Creating a clean and attractive bathroom is imperative because this is considered the most essential room in a home. Unfortunately, bathrooms become dingy rapidly, and you will want to make it shine again. Here are some ways to have a cleaner bathroom before trying to sell your home.

Remove All of the Clutter

Before trying to sanitize anything in the bathroom, remove everything that is in the cabinets or on the floor. This includes emptying the medicine cabinet and the shelves around the shower. You should also take down the shower and window curtains along with removing the wastebaskets and rugs.

Wash the Ceiling, Walls, and Floor

The drywall in bathrooms gets dirty quickly from splashes of bathwater, and mold may grow on the surfaces. In addition to having a dingy appearance, the room may have a disgusting mildew odor. You can use a ladder to reach the ceiling and upper areas of the walls to scrub the surfaces with a cleanser that will eliminate mold growth and foul mold odor. Wash the floor last so that you can pick up the debris that falls from the walls and ceiling.

Clean the Cabinets and Countertops

Use a soft damp cloth dipped in cleanser to wash out the medicine cabinet and the cupboards underneath the sink. In some cases, you can remove the shelves or drawers from these items to wash the items thoroughly. Leave the cupboards and cabinets open so that air can circulate through the storage systems. While cleaning, check for any leaks from pipes that will require a repair. Before replacing your beauty and health care items into the storage devices, you can protect the shelves and drawers with contact paper.

Cleaning the Toilet

Cleaning the toilet is a difficult task, but if it is working optimally, then it is less expensive to clean than replace it. Remove the tank cover to wash around the rim of the back of the toilet, and also, scrub the tank cover. Next, use a soft cloth that has disinfectant to wash the base of the toilet along with the exterior of the toilet bowl. Lift the lid of the toilet to pour a special cleanser into the bowl before using a scrub brush to clean away any debris. Flush the toilet to get rid of the debris, and you can repeat the process if the toilet is still dirty.

Sanitizing Countertops and Bathtub Walls

Tile and grout cleaning can require several hours to complete, so plan this chore when you have a lot of time. The grout between the tiles along with the tiles may develop discolorations from mold, but you must use caution while cleaning to avoid damaging the ceramic tiles or the delicate grout. You can buy ready-made cleansers at local stores, or you can make your own cleanser with a combination of dish detergent, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle to use on the grout and tiles before wiping it away with a cloth. If there is a buildup of debris on the grout or tile, then use a soft-bristled toothbrush to scrub it away with gentle motions.

Final Cleaning Tasks For a Sanitized Bathroom

After wiping out the sink and bathtub in a bathroom, you are ready to give it a few final touches to make it look shiny and clean. Use new window and shower curtains that are in trending colors or designs. Find matching rugs and a toilet seat cover to create an attractive ambience.
