Many nonprofits and fundraisers face the challenge of standing out and delivering compelling fundraising messages to potential donors. Getting support for your cause can be an uphill task, especially considering the number of fundraisers and nonprofits out there. Fortunately, there are several fundraising tricks you can use to create awareness and get the support you need.

Fundraising Tricks - Improve Your Fundraiser

There are several ways you can improve your fundraiser.

Form a List

Come up with a list of friends, colleagues, family, acquaintances, etc.… (potential donors).

This is your chance to be creative. Ask yourself whether you have neighbors, sports club members, business owners, etc. that might be willing to support you?

There’s no harm in asking so work toward putting together the biggest list you can including everyone you think can help.

Set a Fundraising Goal

Before anything, set your goal.

Having a target always keeps you on track, and the chances are that you’ll end up exceeding your expectations so aim high.

It’s not uncommon to set your goal when registering but bear in mind that you can always raise your goal as you start to see the fundraising funds come in.

Send Handwritten Letters First, Not Emails

Emails are a great way to tell people about your cause, but when it comes to giving, personal interaction always wins. Spare some time to show a personal touch with good old-fashioned handwritten letters.

Consider making your initial requests via handwritten letters and deliver them personally if possible. You can then use email as a follow-up to those who don’t respond.

Remember Your Inspiration

Keep in mind that you’re raising funds for a cause that you care about, so bring that same energy and inspiration to your fundraising efforts.

As you send out appeals to potential donors, try to include personal messages about your passion for the cause and how important the fundraising efforts are to you.

Use Online Fundraising Tools

Online tools will go a long way in helping you to manage your fundraising efforts. With an online tool, you can set up your own fundraising page complete with the ability to set your fundraising goal, send appeals, write personal messages and even track progress. That means you can direct all your donors to your fundraising page, which makes it an invaluable resource.

Get Face to Face

People find it difficult to say no if you speak to them in person. So, when you’re fundraising, don’t forget to ask your family and friends to see you regularly and support you by donating. Host a dinner for your friends to and tell them about your campaign or organize a soccer game to create awareness. Family reunions are also a great opportunity to make in-person asks.

Send Thank You Notes

Make sure you thank those who supported you. A simple thank you note or email can go a long way in showing your gratitude.

Fundraising successfully involves a lot of creativity. You must be ready to think outside the box and find ways to tell your story and gain support from potential donors. With these fundraising tips, you should have an easier time reaching your fundraising goal and gaining more support for your cause.
