Some Conscious Things We Do That Destroys Our Roof Unconsciously

In many of our topics, we have addressed several issues of roof destruction and even provided possible solutions and how to avoid some of those things. However, I am confident we are not yet aware of some of the things we do that have a profound effect on our roof and even possibly lead to the case of roof removal.

In this post, we will be talking about some of these actions and possible ways to avoid them.

Additional Installation

This does not mean the addition of other roofing material on an already installed roof but talks about the installation of things like panels. I am convinced you would understand better after carefully reading this post.

During the structuring of your building, the architect does calculate the weight of your roof and the effect it will have on your roof. When you add more components to the roof, the weigh automatically increases, and it begins to affect your building which might lead to cracks.

In the case of solar panel installation, if an inexperienced contractor helps you with the installation, he would end up drilling too many holes in the roof that might lead to roof leakage. This lead to roof repair and in critical cases, it would lead to roof replacement. This means you have consciously paid for the destruction of your roof. Therefore, ensure that you research and hire professional roofing contractors around you.

Employing Storm Chasers

This happens in most cases due to the feeling of smartness and trying to cut down cost more than necessary. You end up paying contractors with low experience and no physical location to do your roofing job for you. I bet you don’t even know the meaning of a storm chaser. These are self-made roofing contractors. They have no license or probably have a fake one. They move around from city to city, trying to get a roofing job done with their low skill level. Once they are done wreaking havoc in a particular city, they automatically park their things and disappear without a trace. This means they take your money away from you and end up doing nothing significant.

The worst part of this situation is not about destroying the roof more than it was. It is leaving a space for thieves to get into the building and take away your belongings in your absence or your presence with a gun pointed towards your head.

Over Pricing

I bet you don’t know that it exists in all human nature to make something reasonable through their handwork. Besides, you probably forget easily that you are not the only person contacting a particular contractor for a roofing job. When you make ridiculous negotiations, you are indirectly making the contractor to take your job with levity because he would want to get it done fast regardless of the quality so he/she can go for another job with better pay. Try to be in his shoes. I am sure you would do the same.
