How Do Misting Systems Work?

Written by Posted On Monday, 21 October 2019 15:21

Summers seem to be getting hotter every year, and we’re not just imagining things. Experts have been coming up with studies that confirm that global temperatures are indeed rising. Worse, they also say things could only get worse over time.

While we do have AC units to keep us cool indoors during hot summer days, they are hardly the most efficient way of cooling off. They use up a lot of energy, and they also contribute to making the planet even warmer. With air conditioners, we keep our buildings cool and make the entire planet warmer at the same time.

What we need now is a more efficient and eco-friendly way to cool off. In this regard, the misting system is showing a lot of promise.

You may not realize it, but you have probably already encountered misting systems before. They are actually in operation in places like amusement parks and open air shopping malls, spraying mist into the crowds from large towers. What you need, however, is something smaller that you can get from a patio misting system company in your area.

How a misting system works
A misting system, which is composed of nozzles, hoses, valves, tubing, filters, and a pump, uses the principles of evaporative cooling to lower the temperatures in a given area.

Once the system is hooked up to a water source, the pump will generate high pressure to force the water out of special nozzles. What comes out of the nozzles then would be a mist of water droplets as tiny as 5 microns, which is 5 millionths of a meter.

The moment the water droplets evaporate into the warm air, they change from a liquid to a gas state or vapor, which will then cool the misted area. The entire process is similar to the way our bodies cool off. When we sweat, the perspiration evaporates, then our body temperature drops.

Why we should install a misting system
As long as the misting system is installed and used properly, a misting system can do you a lot of good.

Depending on factors such as relative humidity, outdoor temperature, and its efficiency, a misting system can bring the temperature of any given area down to 25 degrees.

While air conditioners are only suitable for indoor areas, misting systems can also be used to cool the patio and other outdoor areas of your home. And its effectiveness isn’t limited to homes. As mentioned at the beginning of this article, misting systems are already in place in theme parks and open air malls. They can also be used in offices, warehouses, golf clubs, schools, and sports stadiums. Farms have also been known to use misting systems to keep animals cool and more productive.

The mist that the system produces can also help remove dust, pollen, and other impurities from the air, leaving you with cleaner and fresher air to breathe.

Misting systems are also cheaper than air conditioning systems, especially in the long run. They don’t use as much electricity and can last for a very long time with regular maintenance.

If you’re looking for a more efficient way of cooling off, then you should try having a misting system at home or your place of business. You can start with a portable setup to see for yourself how effective it would be. Once it satisfies your cooling standards, then you should consider a full setup. You can go for a DIY installation if you want, but for optimal results, it would be better to have a professional design and install your misting system.
