Two Important Questions Associated with CCTV Installation

CCTV stands for "Closed-Circuit Television" and these cameras are used widely for monitoring densely populated areas and public domains. You are likely to find these systems in banks, retail outlets, shopping malls, and restaurants. However, you can also have one installed at your premises to improve your security. Many companies have them installed in their offices to ensure employee's productivity. The uses are many, and so are the benefits, but it is true that most people still have questions regarding the use of CCTV cameras. Here are some of those questions answered for you.

Are there Different Types of CCTV Cameras?

Yes, there are several types of CCTV systems you can find in the market these days. They all have their own attributes and advantages. They come with varying price tags too, so you need to ensure what your unique needs are and then select a camera accordingly. Nevertheless, here are the most common types of CCTV systems:

  • Motion Detection: As implied by the name, these cameras capture only when they detect any activity. It means that unlike many traditional cameras, they don't keep recording round the clock. They come with ample storage space. You will receive an alert if your camera senses movement in an area where you have installed it.
  • Nanny Cameras: Most parents use these cameras to keep an eye on children and their nannies while they are away from home. In this case, you will have to place your camera surreptitiously to ensure it serves its purpose well.
  • Night Vision Cameras: If you live in an area where you're likely to deal with thieves and other issues at night, you might want to put your money on a night vision CCTV camera. They use specific sensors and LED's for better surveillance in dimly lit areas. Most high-end CCTV systems now come equipped with this night vision feature.
  • Outdoor Cameras: Any CCTV system that is waterproof and has a night vision feature comes under this category. Most people would use these systems to observe back and front doors, sheds, yards, and other areas in proximity. With these systems installed, there is no need to be at your home to guard the area.
  • Zoom Cameras: Modern-day cameras now offer many features, including the zoom feature. It means these cameras can pan, tilt, and zoom onto an object to capture better footage. However, these cameras can be expensive, and that's why you may want to opt for a fixed camera if that works for your unique circumstances.

Is it Possible for Security Companies to Access Your Household cameras?

No, that is not possible if you don’t allow them to. They just cannot see the footage and images captured through your CCTV security systems. But, it is a different story if you hire a company for their video monitoring services.

The fact of the matter is that you can find a variety of CCTV cameras and they perform well in different situations.
