Quick Ways to Find Temporary Housing When Relocating Staff PixaBay

There will be times when you need to relocate staff. This could happen because of a variety of reasons such as moving your headquarters to a cheaper location.

Chances are your staff won’t take this logistical nightmare lightly especially if they’ve settled down with their families. What’s worse is when they are told to move on short notice because of the circumstances a company faces.

Disgruntled staff might insist on the company looking for a temporary home for them while they plan their movement and with such little time, and this could pose a challenge.

In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the options available so that you can find a temporary, yet comfortable home for your staff quickly when they relocate.

Consult a Relocation Company

There are many relocation companies out there such as ARC Relocation that specializes in moving employees to different cities and even countries. They will incur additional expenses, but generally, the price you pay will be worth the stress and headaches you’ll avoid.

Employee relocation companies have a large network of brokers and vendors that can look for the best temporary housing for your staff instantly. You can afford to do it on your own when you’re relocating one or two staff members, but what about when you need to relocate 20 employees?

A good employee relocation services company also provides added benefits such as looking for areas with the best schools, healthcare facilities, and low crime rates. These concerns need to be addressed as the move will also affect their families.

Corporate Housing

Corporate housing may sound sophisticated, but they are basically fully furnished houses owned by various independent developers that are available to rent for short-term stays. Generally, 2-3 months at a time.

The benefit of corporate housing is it’s fast and efficient. Once you have a move-in date set, you can make a booking for your employees as you would on an Airbnb. Corporate housing tends to offer a variety of facilities such as swimming pools and gyms for the tenant’s convenience and is usually priced on a monthly basis.

If you’re moving employees but the numbers don’t justify paying for a relocation consultant, corporate housing options would be the next best option.

Vacation Rental Properties

If the destination doesn’t have a market for corporate housing, an alternative option would be to look for vacation rental properties. In 2018 alone, there were 23,000 vacation rental companies in the USA.

Online platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO make booking vacation rental properties for your employees a quick and easy process. You won’t need to sign any lease agreements here and just like corporate housing, once you have set the move-in date for your employees, they’re good to go.

Similar to corporate housing, vacation rental properties are fully furnished to meet the comfort requirements of the guests. The biggest difference is that corporate housing cater to those who wish to stay for at least a month, while vacation rental properties might limit guests to weekly stays.
