3 easy ways to organise your wine

Whether you're a casual wine enthusiast or a serious collector, keeping your wine organised is important to ensure that you can easily find the wine you're looking for. But also so that your wines are stored properly to maintain their quality.

Don’t know how to start? Don’t worry. Take your time to organise your wine. Once the chaos is reduced you don’t have to spend as much time to find the wine you're looking for. Also, you can determine what you have, what is missing and what you need to open soon or not.

Here are three easy tips to help you organise your wine at home.

1. Invest in a good wine rack or wine fridge

One of the most important factors in organising your wine collection is having a designated place to store your bottles. Here, a good wine rack or wine fridge will not only keep your wines organised but also protect them from damage and help them age properly.

One of the benefits of wine racks is that they provide designated storage space for your wine bottles, making it easy to keep your collection organised and accessible. Wine racks also keep your bottles safe and protected from damage. By storing your bottles horizontally, wine racks prevent the corks from drying out, which can cause air to seep into the bottle and spoil the wine.

If you don’t have a cellar or a cold room for storage, a wine fridge may be a better option. A wine fridge is designed to keep your wines at a consistent temperature and humidity level, which is essential for proper storage and ageing. With a wine fridge, you’re sure that your wine has the perfect temperature, (almost) no matter how warm or cold it is outside. Choose between a range of sizes and styles, from small countertop models to large built-in units.

2. Sort your wine by type, region or age

Once you have designated storage space for your wine collection, it's important to sort your wines to make it easier to find the bottles you're looking for. There are many different ways to sort your wine, depending on your personal preferences and the size of your collection.

One common way to sort wine is by type. You can group your wines by red, white, and sparkling, and then further sort them by varietal or region. For example, one section of your wine cellar or rack could be devoted to France. Within that section, you could have smaller collections of Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhône, Champagne and so on. Another option is to sort your wines by age, with older wines stored separately from younger ones.

3. Use tags to organise your wine

Finally, using tags is a great way to keep track of your wines and make it easy to find the bottle you're looking for. For instance, you can use wine tags to label your wines by varietal, vintage, or location in your wine storage. You can also use tags to mark which wines need to be consumed soon or which ones should be saved for a special occasion.

There are many different types of wine tags available, from simple paper tags to more elaborate metal or engraved tags. Choose the type of tag that works best for your collection and storage space. For example, if you have a large wine rack, you may want to use larger tags that are easy to read from a distance.
