Thousands of patterns, colors, shapes and materials are used nowadays by the carpet manufacturers to satisfy all requirements, needs and tastes of customers. Styles and techniques from the past are combined with modern technologies to achieve greater variety and quality of floorings.

These are the latest innovations oriented towards underfoot comfort and sustainability:

Wood Ceramic Tiles

Wooden floors make for a cozy and beautiful setting but at the same time they are difficult to maintain. Advanced technologies eliminate the drawbacks of real wood by combining ceramic material and wooden pattern to create tiles that are easier to clean and require little maintenance. Now you can use these modern wood-looking tiles to cover your bathroom or other wet rooms, which until recently was impossible to happen.

Engineered Marble

There are dozens of types of Marble according to the location where they can be found. Each and every type has a different degree of hardness, as the pure white marble is the softest one, which makes it ideal for sculptures or finely graven interior elements. Terrazzo surfaces were very popular in the midcentury interiors but now they make a huge comeback with a redirected focus on sustainability. London designer Max Lamb invented ‘Marmoreal’, which is an engineered marble composed out of four types of north Italian marble. Traditionally terrazzo is made of finer pieces of colored marble while Lamb’s aggregates are larger and rough cut. Binders of strong polyester resin make Marmoreal far more durable, stronger and less porous than natural marbles.

Jigsaw

While recently it is increasingly harder to attract customers’ attention, manufacturers managed to

come up with the brilliant idea to create carpets that are adjustable to any room, no matter its size and shape. Breaking up the rug into small tile components make for a customizable structure whereby clients can create designs which match perfectly their own interior space and taste.

Tiles can be joined together to form endless variations of length and shape, and furthermore you can reassemble them as soon as you start to feel bored, or when you have to place to somewhere else.

Blended Patterns

Inspired by the work of Israeli artist Yaacov Agam, Persian rug company Golran implemented an existing lenticular technique to produce rugs that show two adjacent patterns blended together. Depending on the angle of observation, the carpet changes color just like the water mirror of a lake. Made out of silk and wool, Golran rugs are hand knotted in Nepal and its abstracted patterns  are a perfect addition to simple, contemporary interior designed spaces.

No Color Limits

Latest printing technologies provide manufacturers with an opportunity to create rugs in a limitless range of colors and precisely printed complex patterns. Danish flooring brandFletco use this new method of digital printing to give their carpet designers a way to feature seamless color and optical gradients, reaching up to 65,000 colors. They also implement an exceptional laser cutting technique which helps develop any kind of rug shape which one can imagine.
