The Pain of Passwords–Here's an Idea!

Written by Posted On Thursday, 26 September 2019 05:25

Are you password dumb like me? Do you use the same password all the time? NOT a good idea. Different sites require upper case, lower case, a number, and a symbol of some kind and has to be 8 or 10 digits long. Now let’s add even more reasons to forget passwords: facial recognition and Keychain, Password Manager and a ton of apps and programs to store them. When you click on forgot password and they send you a new one, do you simply copy and paste and change it to something you make up? Or do you leave it 23erdi1? How about when you go in and need to change your password and the one you enter is rejected because you have used it in the past 10 years! Do you jot down the password on the corner of a piece a paper or a sticky note on your computer or desk? Or, worse yet, you write it on the back of a business card and give it away!

I have a solution to your password blues: Apple Notes! I checked Google Keep and they currently are lacking a feature Notes offers–Password Protected Notes. Apparently, many Keep users are asking Google to add that feature, but it hasn’t happened yet. PLEASE add your voice to those requesting Keep add password protection. On your mobile device in Keep look for the 3 lines on the left side of the app and tap feedback. On web-based Keep, tap on the gear (settings) and send feedback.

Think about it: your device is more than likely locked with either facial ID or passcode. Being able to add an additional layer of protection sounds like a pretty good idea. Here comes Apple Notes, and now I have a password protected file where I keep all my passwords! I only need to remember one password to access all my passwords–believe me this works great, it’s always with you and it’s FREE! Let me show you:

I just looked at my password protected notes on my iPhone, which are also available on my iPad and Mac. I have accounts and passwords stored in there since 2001. In some cases I have changed the passwords but the account information, which includes username, password, phone numbers and other notes about that account, are still there. You can also put links in notes and simply tap from there if you don’t have the airline, hotel or rental car app. Remember you can bring Notes to your new devices.
